Clematis khuzestanica Dinarvand is a species of the Ranunculaceae family endemic to Iran, and its type specimen was collected from Khuzestan province. Based on the research method of the national research project for determining the conservation status of Iranian plants and the guidelines of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and based on three criteria related to the Extent of Occurrence, Area of Occupancy, and population size, the conservation status of C. khuzestanica was assessed. The results showed that this species is present in only one location, with about 6 individuals. Therefore, considering the habitat conditions, it is critically endangered and needs special attention and full protection. Ex-situ conservation can be achieved by cultivating it in botanical gardens and preserving its seeds in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran. In situ conservation should be addressed by the Natural Resources and Watershed Organization and Department of Environment of Iran by protecting the habitat of species as an enclosure and a genetic reserve.
